Treasures of the Sea Alana Bowl 20cm
Treasures of the Sea Alana Bowl 20cm
The Alana 20cm Bowl has an impressive deep-sided shape with the reassuring weight and clarity of pure crystal for which Waterford, the home of crystal, is renowned. The distinctive Caro crystal cutting pays homage to the Master Craftsman Miroslav Havel who first created the Alana pattern in 1956. Its enduring charm continues in this bowl inspired by the rugged waves and coastline landscapes of Ireland and makes a striking serving piece with its beautiful refractions, designed to used and enjoyed as part of an entertaining occasion. Presented in a stylish signature grey gift box, this Treasure of the Sea also makes a delightful, special gift.
The beauty of Ireland, the 'Emerald Isle', its rugged coastlines, steep cliffs, rolling waves, and the vivid blue hues of the ocean are the inspiration behind Waterford's Treasures of the Sea collection. The Craftsmen of Waterford use a technique, known as 'casing', the traditional and highest quality way of creating coloured crystal. One or more layers of coloured glass are fused to a base of clear crystal and then by cutting through the coloured casing, the underlying clear crystal is revealed and incorporated into the design. This intricate workmanship, where each piece is blown twice due to the two-layer technique, makes coloured cased crystal even more valuable. This stunning collection from Waterford includes beautifully cut vases in vibrant ocean colours forming eye-catching centrepieces alongside outstandingly crafted tall vases designed to bring unique style to the home with all the rich heritage of Ireland and its unique land and seascapes.
